COMMONWEALTH INDUCTION PROGRAMME “ABUJA 2023” part one (1) took place as planned. The said induction programme was organised by the  Institute of Oil & Gas Research & Hydrocarbon Studies (IOGRHS) at the Nicon Luxury Abuja, Nigeria on Friday, June 30, 2023. By exactly 4 pm activities started, after the opening address by the Chairman of the Council, the lead lecturer: Dr Ahmad Galadima – Professor of Fuel Catalysis and Anthropogenic Pollution delivered his lecture with the theme: “Government, Economic Development & Energy Systems”. Without any iota of doubt, Ahmad did justice to the subject matter. Other contributors include but are not limited to:

(a) Professor Eugene Ukachukwu Opara, an erudite  scholar, distinguished academic, university administrator, researcher, public servant and current Honourable Commissioner at the Imo State Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Government of Imo State of Nigeria, Opara is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the World;

(b) Engineer Kayode Adesanya Odukoya, Managing Director/CEO, Treffen Renewable Energy Investment Ltd, is an accomplished professional who has spent over three decades in the oil and gas upstream and downstream industry. Kayode holds degrees in Natural Gas Engineering and Business Administration. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), a Fellow of the Institute of Oil & Gas Research & Hydrocarbon Studies (FIOGR), a Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), a Member of the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA), etc;

(c) Professor Casmir Uchenna Anyawu, Vice Chancellor, Madonna University of Nigeria and Member of the American Studies Association;

(d) Mr Mathias Gaba Eluma, a Geologist, Environmental Scientist, Procurement Specialist, Mining, Pollution Control, Soil Erosion and Flood Control Expert. He works at the Ecological Project Office, Federal Government of Nigeria;

(e) Professor Joseph Olalekan Olusina, PhD, a Geomatics Engineer, Transportation Management Expert, Surveillance Mapping Specialist, Surveyor, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Expert and currently works at the University of Lagos (UNILAG);

(f) Dr Jude Okwudi Nzeako, Investment Promotion and Management Expert. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Oil & Gas Research & Hydrocarbon Studies with Specialisation in Strategic Management – Operations, Processes & Systems;

(g) Professor Philippe Mounmbegna, a researcher in Clinical Biochemistry, Environmental Biochemistry, a Member of the West Africa Society of Toxicology and A Fellow of the Institute of Oil &  Gas Research & Hydrocarbon Studies with Specialization in Biochemistry Studies – Medical and Analytical, etc.   The induction programme discussed the role of government in developing energy systems for economic growth and development. The gathering records their regret for the lack funding of for research efforts in this part of the world. The Technical Committee of the Institute of Oil & Gas Research & Hydrocarbon Studies (IOGRHS) seizes this opportunity to salute all participants for their attendance and kind support.
